FTP General

One of the most basic tasks associated with managing a Website is transferring files to and from the Webserver.  Standards for doing this are well established and are called 'File Transfer Protocol' or 'FTP'.

There are numerous FTP programs, stand alone or built into the HTML editor that you use.  Any of them can be used to move your files to and from the DaySite Webservers. 

WS_FTP

WS_FTP is probably the most common stand alone FTP program.  It is probably already on your computer or at the very least on one of the many CDs that tend to accumulate around your machine.  It has been widely distributed as a freebee.  If you can't find one laying around, you can download the latest: Download  WS_FTP LE .  Once you have downloaded the program, Open the folder where you placed it and click on the program.  Your Zip program will take over and install WS_FTP with normal defaults.  For instructions on setting up your WS_FTP LE to access your Website, CLICK HERE

FrontPage 2000

FrontPage 2000 is one of the most popular HTML editors, and has an FTP program built right into it.  The first time you wish to upload your files, just click File --> Publish Web.  Then enter 'ftp://yourdomain.com' and click the Publish button.  Then enter your UserName and Password, and FrontPage 2000 will upload your pages to the server.  On subsequent uploads, FrontPage will only upload pages that have been changed since the last update.  This feature greatly reduces the time required to upload files to your Website.
